The Testimony of a Church

The Testimony of a Church

My Testimony – What Jesus has done for me.

I was saved on Easter Day, 1979.  I remember coming home from church and had gone to bed.  Jesus called me to be his and I tearfully responded to Him saying I would give my life to Him.  I was only seven years old at the time, so I don’t remember a huge change in my life.  I went to church, obeyed my parents, read my Bible and prayed sometimes, did good in school, so I thought that I was OK.

When I was in seventh grade, someone introduced me to “dirty pictures” – pornography.  That was in 1983.  I picked up this sin and held on to it for almost 31 years, until April 10, 2014.  I had been married almost 23 years.  I had four children and a good job.  I had a lot to lose.  On that day in Phoenix, Arizona, God told me I must decide to admit my sin to my family or lose them.  I told Tammy what I was doing even though I knew I might lose her.  Thank God she stayed with me and forgave me.  God forgave me too, almost 35 years earlier.  He still loves me and has stayed with me too, even when I wasn’t sure he was there.  Thank God for the saving grace by the blood of Jesus Christ my Lord.

I still fight against my flesh every day.  I get depressed.  I have a hard time getting started or finishing things – like this testimony.  When I seek out God, through in depth Bible study, fervent prayer, and coming to a church with God fearing, loving, brothers and sisters in Christ – I am reminded of all that God has done for me; and then I do better.

Thank you, Jesus, for dying for my sin.

Thank you, Holy Spirit, for dwelling in me and leading me to God.

Thank you, Father in Heaven, for creating me, and for giving me all I have and loving me enough to send Jesus to Earth.
