What goes around . . .

What goes around . . .

What goes around . . .

Whenever I go to the grocery store or someplace with grocery carts, as I am walking in I look for anyone finishing up with their cart.  If I see someone, I will offer to take it for them.

I’m just trying to be a ‘good’ person.

I’ve been doing this for some time now.  Sometimes I will see someone struggling with getting their purchase into their vehicle.  I offer to help and it is usually accepted with gratitude.

Yesterday though as I was loading my purchases into my car and I was nearing the bottom of the cart when I heard, “I’ll take that cart for you if you’d like.”

Without even looking up at the man who said it, I quickly answered “Thanks very much!” and continued to get things organized in the car.  As I looked up afterwards, I saw the man that had taken my cart walking towards the store entrance.  He hadn’t even needed the cart.  He had already dropped it into the cart corral on his way into the store.

He was just doing a ‘good’ thing.

You may think I am stretching it here, but I think he was being a Godly man doing ‘good’ things.  He was being humble, he was serving others.  Just like it says in Galatians 5:13 NIV:

For you, brothers, were called to freedom; but do not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh.  Rather, serve one another in love.  The entire Law is fulfilled in a single decree:  “Love your neighbor as yourself.”

It was a blessing to me to see someone else sharing God’s love even through as simple a gesture as taking my grocery cart.  It was truly ‘What goes around . . . Comes around!’

We should all keep our eyes and ears open for the opportunity to help one another.  It doesn’t have to be anything fancy, just do whatever you can to help your fellow man.

Roscoe

If only this could work with items other than shopping carts. . . .Hmmmm. I could wait in the bushes until you return from a motorcycle ride, walk out and say. . .could I take that for you? It might work. Could be worth a shot. May pick up a nice bike. Just being kind ya’ know.
P.S. Seriously, a good example of the “do unto others” rule.
