Letters from Roscoe

Recently, I was up at the Loudon County Courthouse.

It was a Jury Selection day and knowing I was going to be sitting and waiting a while I had brought my Bible to read.  I had been sitting there reading for about 45 minutes to an hour.  Being new to the ‘Christian in Training’ role, I didn’t quite know how to respond when a woman who had been sitting next to me leaned over and said…

“Would you pray for me please?” Please pray for me

Her name was Angel, and she apparently has some legal issues that will be coming up on May 24th.  She also asked me to pray for her two sons, and her mother as well.  She did not reveal what the issue was, nor did I ask.  But back to responding to her question, I was caught off guard.  I had never been asked to pray for anyone before, I mean not so seriously and from a total stranger.

So, I said, “Sure.”  I asked her name so I could write it down.  That’s when she told me about her boys and her mother.  It didn’t occur to me until afterwards that we could have just said a prayer right then and there.

Nonetheless, I have prayed for her.  Each and every day.  And I will continue to do so up and until the 24th of May.  I ask the Lord to work His will in her life and in that of her family’s.  Whatever the issue is let it be worked out to His will, let Him become a bigger part in their lives and an influence on the boys.  Bring peace to what seems to be a troubled home.

I am sure some of you have been approached this way.  What did you do?  How did you handle it?

Let me know.

And while you’re at it, say a little prayer for Angel and her family.

God loves us all.  That’s why Jesus came.
