Letters from Roscoe

I recently read a book called ‘When God Winks at You’.  The book passed along numerous peoples own stories about how God had worked in their lives and then let them know that He had done it.  Each little event (well, some were major) was called a God Wink.  While I enjoyed the book and it’s subject matter,  I didn’t like the way the book read; it made ‘God Winks’ sound like a novelty item and they aren’t.

But I believe in God, and I believe He works in our lives and that sometimes he has a Godly sense of humor.

Case in point, Cindy and I were eating at our favorite Chinese restaurant a few days ago.  We had been discussing whether she should go out to California for a planned trip with my sister, or stay local so she could quickly go to Florida to be with her mother if need be.  We had also briefly discussed some of my work here on the website while on the way to the restaurant.IMG_1848

We come to the end of the meal and the check along with two fortune cookies is delivered to the table.

Cindy opened hers and read it aloud; “Wish you a good Journey.”

I opened mine and it said “You are heading in the right direction.”

I just laughed out loud!  God has such a sense of humor!  He was telling Cindy that He knew she would be traveling soon, and that He knew she would make the right choice!

I felt that he was telling me that my continuing progress as a Christian in Training has me on the right path.  His path.

May God be merciful and bless us.  May his face smile with favor on us.  – Psalm 67:1 NLT
