It’s Not too Late!

From a friend,

He had a BIG God moment yesterday and I had to share it!

My grandmother (Mom’s mother, I call her Mamaw) is 97 and fell and broke her hip last week. She was due to have surgery, but her kidneys and heart were not stable. She kept getting worse until a doctor said she didn’t look like she was going to make it. We all came in to say our goodbyes to her. Then she started getting better! Her vitals stabilized and she got to the point where she said she wanted to have the surgery again. The doctor said she looks better and agreed.

Now for the best part.

My family wasn’t sure that Mamaw had ever been saved. When I was 10, I remember asking her If she was going to heaven. She said Yes. I asked how she knew for sure. She said that she was baptized as an infant in the Methodist church and that should cover her. At the time, I didn’t know how to answer her.  I never followed up with her on that, but started praying for her salvation many years ago.

Since she has been in the hospital, my wife and I both had been trying to find the right moment to share the gospel with her. Yesterday, my wife took the kids to see her at the hospital. As she was leaving, Tammy had just texted our pastor about our concerns over Mamaw’s salvation when up walked our pastor!

She told him about her concern and the preacher said, “I’ll go talk to her!” He went in and called her by name,  saying  “Do you know that you’re going to heaven?”  Mamaw said, “I hope so.” The Preacher replied, “Let’s don’t just hope, let’s be sure!” And he then led her in prayer to ask Jesus into her heart!!!   She followed what he said. My wife was there and said it was amazing! Thank you, Lord, for a great answered prayer of many, many years!
